Combatants: The Iron Banner “Varanheim and Ashant”
The Lions Faction “Barahaus, Chausan and Galici”
The war of the five banners was an all out war caused by several factors, the Ashanti expansion into Chausán in which they wished to seize control over the country's ores and rich natural resources. Chausán had a defensive pact with the Kingdom of Barahaus but the Barahausians would not act upon it, until their crown prince was assassinated. This caused retaliation from Barahaus by joining the war. The Ashanti managed to convince the Varanheimans to join the war effort in exchange for more territory and control over the Skagos Mountains which had been contested for many years by their rival Chausán.
"Ashanti Cavalry"
The Ashanti coming from mostly grasslands and arid climates are skilled cavalry men and battle masters. They are strict in their training and are extremely disciplined. They managed to quickly ravage Chausán borders and countryside. The Varanheimans using their knowledge of the Skarrack mountains attacked from the north. Chausán was enveloped.
The Barahausians and Chausánites did not expect such a quick offensive and their mobilisation took time, precious time. Chausán was quickly seized after an astonishing 7 weeks and the army surrendered and many peasants had to escape to Barahaus. After 8 weeks of painfully slow mobilisation Barahaus was set to liberate Chausán. However their invading force was not good enough and they were halted by enemy traps, assaults and skirmishes. The war reached a brief stalemate; nothing of significance really happened for 1 year. That is when the Ashantis managed to set up proper camps and increase their imperial influence by stationing troops in Chausán they then made the decision to pursue Barahaus soil.
"Barahausian Knights"
The Ashanti-Varanheiman forces were extremely successful and managed to obliterate any defending forces. This prompted the Barahausians to send letters asking for assistance to Galici. Claiming that the raging hunger that was the Ashanti would never cease until Argalos was theirs. Out of fear and several successful diplomatic missions to Galici from Barahaus they agreed to join the war. Their sharp minds and intellect helped greatly in organizing troops and counter assaults.
Here is where the Ashanti made a grave error that turned the war favor.

As they were heading for the capital of Barahaus merely 2 years into the war they did not account for the Galicians wit. They attacked the capital and attempted to siege it but the Galicians attacked unexpectedly just days into the siege and the majority of the Ashanti army was defeated during this battle. This grave error crippled the Ashanti offensive in Barahaus.
It has since been known as “The Ashanti Shame”. Roughly 60 000 soldiers died during the battle and on the way back to the border of Chausán.

The Varanheimans would do the heavy lifting for a year after this taking care of most of the defending from the now emboldened Lions Faction. Varanheiman warriors are very talented in hand to hand combat but even they could not hold the Barahausian Lions for long.
The main battleground for the Lions Faction and the Iron Banner was in Chausán, and as such if you dig into the soil you can find scars from the past such as swords and decomposed armor. The war was truly bloody with each side attempting to win by attrition, but then a plague broke out, it was called the Red Pox. It’s origins unknown, it touched many, none were safe. The war did not come to a standstill, it raged on more intensely since both sides thought the other was weak, but after the pyrrhic Iron banner victory at Montgarde negotiations between the factions began. It was decided that compensation would go to the Lions Faction and some parts of Skagos and some parts of Eastern Chausán would go to the Iron banner. This was called the Treaty of Montgarde.
Although the Iron Banner were still the supreme military force the red pox had hit them especially hard since their countries were extremely close to Chausán. So in essence the war was inconclusive. Both sides feel that they won but they have no spoils to prove it.
The Ashanti still want control over the ores of Chausán, the Varanheimans still want the rest of the Skarrack Mountains.
Chausanites long for their lost land, the Barahausians wish to prove themselves to be capable following their military incompetence in the Five Banner War and in the Öndörkhan Revolt which caused them to lose a sizable amount of land.
Galicians have long since laid down their weapons in favor of progression but some more imperious forces would like to change that.
The peace hangs by a thin thread, will it last?
