Town of Gar

Town of Gar

Gar, where fruit is worth more than blood”- Labal Musa

Short Info

The town of Gar alternatively Gar is a smaller settlement located in western Ashant.

The streets of Gar are filled to the brim with thralls, farmers and Tang-mo.

The town of Gar is a fairly new town; it has only existed since 50 years ago when the ruins of the old Chausán town of Clemont were rebuilt. Due to Gar’s excellent geological position it is able to produce fruits which are not possible to cultivate elsewhere. The perfect blend of vast open plains, searing heat and flowing rivers enables rare flora to flourish around Gar.

Unfortunately the need for Tang-mo outweighs the need for justice. This fact alone has lead to massive human trafficking rings and brigadier groups being established in and around the Arden Forest, the main trafficking victims are rural families in the war-torn country of Chausán who are incapable of defending themselves. They make perfect prey in the eyes of greedy, gold depraved bandits.

Geography

Gar is situated west from Harga, on the edges of the Ardun Forest, the town’s elevation is not quite high since the town is built upon plains. To the west of Gar is the fabled Ardun Forest, famous for its supposed sinister nature, it is said to have been home to Chausánite druids and others who would dare to dabble in summonings, shamanism and animism. Naturally many consider this myth but the emergence of the supposed “Beast of Nairob” seems to indicate otherwise.

To the south you have endless plains and farm land, you also have Fort Balyon, a crucial fort which was a key rally point for Ashanti cavalry during the war of five banners.

If you travel eastward you will soon find yourself at a busy merchant road called “The golden road” which connects Harga, Solis and the capital Goldthrone, three metropolitan giants.

Take your boots north and travel through treacherous cliffs and the Ardun forest and you may surely land in Nairob a town which also produces Tang-Mo and other fruits that enjoy the high altitude of their town.

Town Layout

The town of Gar is a walled town and it is surrounded by farmers and simple cottages. Inhabited by people who don’t have the privilege of living inside the walls. Roughly 360 people live outside of Gars walls. The inside of Gar can be divided into three parts. The thrall district which houses about 500 thralls roughly 10% of Gars population. The thralls consist mostly of captured Chausanites but other criminals also make up the workforce. The Slave district is controlled by 2 families: that of the Greydrakes and that of Ido. In this district infrastructure is underdeveloped and most of the town has been built with maximum productivity and minimum comfort in mind.

The other district is called the common district, where the laborers, vendors and merchants toil and live. It is home to most of the town’s services such as libraries, temples, shops and guard barracks. It is home to the majority of Gar housing roughly 4000 people.

Then the remainder of Gar lives in the Great district. About 150 people live here and this is the home of Gars most wealthy. In this district you can find the seat of power, the Keep of Old. Here the Ido family rules and governs Gar.

Some notable locales in Gar are:

History

Gar is an extremely young city only having been around for half a century. It was built upon the old ruined city of Clemont which used to be a major Chausánite settlement unfortunately it was sacked and raided 3389 at the start of the war, it was then occupied but nothing was built upon there until a couple years after the war, when a wealthy family called Ido began to built it up with the help of a family called Greydrake.

Greydrake was a veteran family and the Ido’s were thrifty merchants and together they managed to build up the city. Many people around the Gar area left their hamlets in favor of the brand new city of Gar.

With it’s optimal geological position it managed to cultivate tang-mo amongst other valuable crops, the economy in the Harga region flourished and even more began to emigrate to Gar in search for jobs.

Since then the two families of Ido and Greydrake own and oversee Gar from the Old Keep.

Miscellaneous

The original Chausánite settlement included an undercity but the Idos and Greydrakes have long since sealed it and hidden the entrances for an unknown reason.

It is also quite well known that Gar is supplied with workforce by bandits and that the nobles of this town approve and turn a blind eye to banditry.
